Marco Resmann - Rebirth | The Story

I produced the original track back in August 2019 and ‚Hope‘ was initially the working title.
I was quite happy with that tune from the first minute on, but still felt that something was missing. My intuition told me that some physical strings could support that hook in a subtile way. My studio neighbour Paji was definitely the man for this mission cause his instrumental skills on the strings are simply amazing. Our vision was to compose them to a point that they sound big like an orchestra ensemble even though I only wanted put them in the background of the track. So we ended up recording 20 layers of violins and they just blew me away. Thus I had to do an extra version that highlighted them. Somehow the voice of the poet Tony Philips came into my mind which I recalled from a tune of Piek’s last album. I thought that he would be the perfect fit to intensify that melancholic vibe by adding a message to the track which was inspired by the entire situation on mother earth which we all are facing since a long time. I finished the vocal version in January and now it feels like a prophecy. Crazy.

The footage from the East Side Gallery in Berlin seemed to be another ideal match to the music and Tony’s lyrics. Due to the current crisis I had the honour to enjoy a video shoot in front of that wall without any people disturbing me. A very unique experience as this area is usually always full of tourists.

I think that this is my most personal production with a very strong connection to the current situation world wide such as Covid-19 and systemic racism around the globe.
